Josh Billings letters, circa 1867.

The collection consists of two letters, no year, but both circa 1867: to Paulison (?) dearest, 27 Sept., making final arrangements to lecture at Patterson, Monday, 25 Nov., asking that his fee not be paid in advance, and commenting on the difficulty of performing a comic lecture. Written on the verso of an advertising flier, headed, What is Said About Josh Billings, witrh various reviews praising his work; some comments are dated 1867; also, to Dear sirs, asking that they give his prospectus to officers of the local literary club, signed "Henry Shaw and his mutual friend, Josh Billings;" written on the verso of a flier advertising Billings' famous lecture, Milk, with critical comments praising the lecture, under the heading, Billings, and Milk. The advertisement is dated July, 1867.
